Slovak Nuclear Society (SNUS) is a voluntary learned scientific and technical association of members with their professional and study interests related to nuclear technology, nuclear power, and the use of ionization radiation. SNUS is a member of the European Nuclear Society (ENS).

The main objectives of SNUS activities are to coordinate and support creative activities, satisfy scientific and professional interests of its members, and provide them information. SNUS ensures coordination of its professional activities with other learned scientific and technical societies in the Slovak Republic and international relation and cooperation. With the aim to develop and make the general public more informed about its activities, SNUS cooperates with social, governmental and non-governmental authorities and organizations, with companies and communication means.

PROGRAM of the Slovak nuclear society

The program of SNUS activities consists in the following:

  1. Association of professionals active in the field of nuclear technology, nuclear power, and generally of ionization radiation, at the level of both learned and interested groups.

  2. Work in professional sections, preparation and organization of regular technical topical meetings, and Annual General Assemblies with professional program embedded.

  3. Focus on dialogue with the general public and its representatives (committees, civil initiatives, political parties and movements), addressing environmental priorities for the development of power sector and an important part of it - nuclear power sector.

  4. Attract students in the fields close to SNUS activities and young research workers, using various forms:

  • coordinating tasks related to the program of students’ professional activities and supporting their professional activities,

  • evaluating contests in student works and organizing seminars with presentations of their results.

  1. Support publication activities of SNUS members, issue SNUS Bulletin as a professional periodic publication with a part dealing with SNUS activities.

  2. Organize professional activities in the preparation of reviews and expert statements.

  3. Cooperate with Slovak, Czech and other professional societies abroad with similar orientation.

  4. Provide an offer to organize single professional events - presentations in major companies and organizations (nuclear power plants, power engineering, high schools, universities).
